weird really i have noticed my dash board lights only sometimes work, and also the car failed on the mot today on the number plate lights, i have checked the fuse and it seems fine, it says that the number plate lights and dash lights are on the same fuse, doe sthat mean there could also be a dodgy earth for both of these, however i have not checked that when the dashboard lights suddenly come on that the number plate lights do also.

does anyone know where the earth is connected to for both of these??? as i think its a dodgy connection somewhere,
