Thread: CD not always playing

I have an 04 Skoda Fabia but when the radio is switched on or a CD is inserted it doesn't always play. If it is going to play all I hear is a quiet hum but if not I hear a ticking noise and 'Error' appears on the display.

Sounds like the cd isn't loaded up right which means the mechanisim that pulls the cd into position is wearing down.
When mine sort of did the same i was told it's cheaper to put a new head unit in, so i bought an Alpine unit which is better.

Thanks for that John, I had a feeling it might work out easier to get a new head unit!
