Default Coolant warning light when level is ok

minus 4 this morning and the Coolean level/temp warning light was on. Checked the level and it was ok. Decided/hoped it was the sensor playing up in the cold weather as I really needed to get somewhere. It stayed on for my 15 min journey. Parked up for a while - when I started up again it was ok - no warning light. A later journey was also ok.
Has anyone come across this before ? Was my judgement right about the sensor, or is there a problem there that really needs to get sorted?
    It's a 2006 Fabia btw. Cheers

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem with my 2001 1.4 fabia as Webbo, Only had the car 1 week!. I have changed the coolant today after flushing the radiator etc. Unfortunately this has not solved the problem. The warning light comes on from cold and also when hot. Has anybody got any ideas on this? btw; the car runs perfect and stays at the correct temperature when driving.

My problem hasn't reoccured since my original post. The coolant was just on the minimum line when warm so I think the extra cold weather may have made it go under the line causing the warning light to come on.
I've topped it up to just under maximum line and it's been ok since, even when it's very cold.

Thanks for the reply Webbo, i have solved the problem after digging a little deeper into it and ready other postings regarding this problem. I replaced the coolant expansion tank ( euro car parts @ £11) and the light has now gone out. The sensor must have been faulty in the existing tank and all is ok now

try always to check the sensor of coolant every now and then..and guys, u know what? check the lock of the radiator..sometimes not closing it well affects the pressure then the sensor take it like a problem!!!
