    Default 406 Stereo change..

hi, simple question i know but....

i would like to know how to change the stereo in my 406. i just got it and can't find a haynes manual for it. its '97 sri turbo 2.0 litre and the only manual i could see on their site does not cover 2.0 litre turbo engines. grrrr...

so if anyone either knows if there's a manual for my car, where and or maybe the isbn number or....a good download 'how to', website or anything i can find out how to take out the old stereo - i bet its really simple but i can't find any screws or anything that indiactes exactly how the fascia comes out..

    cheers,

    Paul..

The Haynes book will still be fine for most things on your car,but not the engine as you know. But the rest of the car, body work, interior etc would be the same in the book.
On mine, although it much later & proberly different, there is a small hole either side of the stereo unit. You need to push 2 pieces of wire coat hanger into the holes to release the stereo.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I will try looking for those 2 holes - my mate told me about that too today, so would have thought it would be the same. Otherwise i guess i will have to get myself a haynes manual..

    Cheers,

    Paul..

Paul, if you live in the UK try your local library, the one near me lends out Haynes manuals.

Thanks jonlucpicard, but i finally managed to do it. was indeed two little holes either side of the stereo. the only trouble i had was getting my stereo to fit in, too many bulky wires and stuff behind to make it a proper flush fit, but with a bit of cunning and brute force its all good-in-the-hood now
