TEHRAN, Dec. 9 (MNA) – Iran’s automaker Iran Khodro Co. (IKCO) and France’s Peugeot are negotiating to share the same platform as the Peugeot 307 platform in the new models of the Iranian made automobile Samand.
Iran Khodro Co. and France’s Peugeot-Citroen Co. (PSA) are negotiating over the use of the Peugeot 307 platform for the new models of the Iranian made automobile, Samand, noted an official with Iran’s major auto producer Iran Khodro Co.

A number of engines have been proposed to be installed on the passenger car most important of which is a 1600 cc engine designed in collaboration with German automakers, he announced adding that by meeting the Euro 4 standards the car’s emission would be cut significantly.

The new Samand sedans will enjoy electronic clutch system thereby, contributing to smooth traffic flow in large cities like Tehran, he told the Persian service of ISNA on Saturday.

If proved successful, the versatile car would be capable of being exported to target auto markets in countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Azerbaijan Republic, China and India as well as the countries in Africa, Eastern and Central Europe, he further commented.
