Default Bottom ball joint replacement advice???

Hi All, I'm new to the forums having just become the (semi)proud owner of a down at heel 405 ('92 - late Series1?)

While replacing the front discs & pads today, I noticed that the N/S lower ball joint seems worn and the boot has split (There's also a pronounced knock/rattle from this area when going over rough roads, which I previously assumed to be the ARB bushes as these are shot).

Anyways, my question is - How is the ball joint removed from the bottom of the strut?
Obviously I'll use a splitter to drop the wishbone off it but having given it a cursory glance over/feel round I can't see how it's attached to said strut. I know I'm probably missing something glaringly obvious but go easy 'cause I'm a newb to these cars, having driven German metal previously. ops:

Thanks in advance for any help & apologies for long post, Dan.

balljoints need to be pressed out and pressed in, best to take the wishbone and new balljoint to a garage and chuck them £10 and tell them to press them in and out for ya
