    Default 406 coupe temperature issues

The fan on the 406 coupe comes on & stays on after relatively short journeys for the past week or so. Today, the coolant temp soared while driving steadily for 20 minutes & a warning to stop comes on (not sure if these are related). Coolant level looks fine, very low on oil though. Put in 1 litre of oil but problems persist. Please help!

If both radiator fan starts and your temp gauge reads hot, then I would presume the engine actually gets hot. This could be because of air trapped in the cooling system,or maybe a defect head gasket, thermostat seized or defective water pump. The two latter are probably NOT the problem. But it does not hurt to cover all areas.

Check for air in the system, and do a coolant pressure test to check the head gasket.
