    Smile Door lock

Hi all, just joined this forum. Bought my wife a Seat ibiza 1.4 1998 S reg with 40k about a year ago for only £1000 ( bargain considering its the same as a Polo without the price). Got the full service done including all the belts had no issues 1year of hassle free driving for the wife until now. The drivers door lock does not work now. The key, when turned just turns and turns and does nothing to open the central locking (barrel must be worn). The passenger side is fine. What options do I have to get this fixed. i.e how much is a new lock or is there another option. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Other than fixing the existing barrel, you may have to get a new one, only problem in just replacing the one lock is the extra key.

I've not had any experience with seat locks but, I used to own a Shitron and the dealer was happy to make me up a lock for my existing key.

Only real clean but expensive and difficult option is replace all locks at once

    Default I know your pain.

Does the problem exist on both sides? If so its the barrel, the fella i bought it off, sold me one for a bit cheaper because the door lock wasnt working on the drivers side. After about 2 months, the same happened on the passenger and suddenly i couldnt lock the car. I went to a few different garages to fix it but eventually had to go straight to a dealership who charged an arm and a leg to fix. They said they replaced the barrel and said the key wasnt catching it at either side.
