Thread: creaks and groans

My '03 TDI has developed a rather annoying creak. Notice it most dropping off drive, changing gears 1st to 2nd and over speed bumps at slow speed - basically any movement that causes the car to tip forward / back gently. Its not a creaky clutch and its not suspension - maybe an engine mount?? Has anyone had similar? Or know where engine mounts are or how to get to them?

Yes I have been experiencing the exact same problem, a really loud creaking, over speed bumps, country lanes, gravel, uneven roads, going round corners and when parking, reversing, basically all the time. I took my car to my local Seat dealer who had a look and said it was the 'console bushes' and would cost around £270+vat to repair. Hope this helps!

may not be the same but i just sussed out the creaking noise today in the wifes dash.

was pretty loud and annoying but its deff coming from the air vents infront of the windscreen....i sat and held the vent for about a mile and not a single creak...soon as i took my hand of it started again.

time to rip the dash out and have a look i think
