I have owned my Leon from new and have covered 36,000, most of which have been on the motorway.

I have recently been experiencing a slipping clutch in 4th,5th & 6th gear at around 2000 revs, Decided to contact my dealer as the warranty was due to expire. The dealer said that this is a common fault on my model and that Seat have actually replaced the Clutch Friction Plate under warranty, based on this i booked the car in.

On the day the garage rang me to confirm that the item Friction Plate was worn and that Seat has agreed to replace under warranty, which seemed fine, although at the sam time the dealer advised that the release bearing and Pressure plate was also showing signs of premature wearing. They said that these parts would not be covered under warranty but while the gearbox was out they recommended replacing them, I reluctantly agreed.

When I picked the car up I said to the dealer that I wasnt happy with paying as in my opinon to faulty part(covered under warranty) was the reason why the other items had worn early. To which all i got was a shrug of the shoulders and told that in the past other people had just paid and got on with it!

I haqve today written a letter to Seat Uk requesting reimbuursement for the monies i had to pay, which was £155.00.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this and if so what was the outcome.

If im honest i dont expect seat to pay but the whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Surely a clutch on a £16k car should last longer????
