Can anybody confirm for me what this problem is?

There is considerable noise coming from both driveshafts. Becomes really loud at about 40 – 60 mph but only when accelerating or decelerating, ie when driveshafts are under most load, if at neutral load there is hardly any noise – eliminating wheel bearings?
There is no clicking noises when accelerating at full lock so I think I can eliminate the outer CV joints.
When car is jacked up on one side only with handbrake applied and ‘driven’, wheel on floor is still and jacked up wheel spins when in gear, the noise is very evident under these conditions, being slightly louder on LHS I think. There is a couple of inches rotation – don’t know what the norm is here.
Sherlock here thinks it could be the inner CV joints – maybe the outers were replaced a while back and the inners have now worn badly.

I would be grateful for any comments.
Cheers
