I have an Ibiza 1.4 Chill, 1.4 litre which during the very hot spell gave the following problems.
1) No apparent effort to start, no whirring no nothing!
2) On a different occasion the starter operated but the engine did not fire.
Both problems occurred, fortunately, on our drive at home.
These problems went away but I am worried about them because if they reappear it will almost certainly be at the worst time possible.

My thinking about the first problem is that it might be the "engagement solenoid" failing to operate which would automatically prevent the starter motor operating.

I have no idea about the second unless it is a flaw in the engine control unit that doesn't like hot weather!

Does anyone know of a history of problems of this kind? I would be very grateful for any information.
