Thread: flashing oil light

I'm afraid I'm new to this forum lark! but I need help please. I have a 2000 1.4 ibiza cool. its fine except one thing and its sending me crazy... when the engine is hot, say in traffic, the temp gauge goes up tp 90 then the red oil light comes on flashing . the beeper beeps 3 times , after a while the light goes off. A few minutes later it starts again and so on. however when its cold or on a motorway or open road etc the temp drops and I have no problem. it only happens when the engine is hot- can some kind person out there throw a life line please.* apart from that, the engine sounds good and is never short of oil or coolant.
