Thread: 'awlright' Ibiza gearbox noise

Hello, I am new to all this forum malarky, so bear with me.

Need advice for my son's Ibiza 1.4. It has suddenly developed a noise from the gearbox/diff, but only on slowing.

I'm not convinced its terminal, maybe a selector issue.

Anyone got advice.

I had it at work with me (nightshift) and driving home this morning it lost 4th gear. But I did manage to get a whole load of grinding and rumbling noises in exchange. Friday 13th

Any one know what donor cars would be suitable. Our local scrappies seem to have either 16v (different gear selector) or 1litre VAG motors with a very similar looking setup.

I'm not wanting to upgrade or go faster, just get back on the road asap, with minimum fuss.
