Volkswagen Golf 4: erratic idling

Hello all my golf when he is hot idle is sometimes slightly irregular vibration in the engine anyone know what possibly could cause this problem. Also when I switch in a low speed, the car haggle like an older car whose ignition is not good.

Hi, is it petrol or diesel? injection or carb?

It sounds very much like an air leak, possibly fron the manifold joint, but a little more info will help diagnose.

If that doesn't work look at the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. If I remember correctly there have been similar issues in Skodas of the same vintage, the problem was solved by exchanging a gasket in the EGR valve with one which had a much smaller hole, thus restricting the amount of exhaust gas which was fed back into the engine.
