Interested in your advert even though car is sold!! any chance of more information on the longer springs , were they one offs or is their a supplier, and the same for the driveshaft spacers.
reason for asking is ive just bought an estelle for trialing so im looking for all the information on modifications that will be required to ge t the vehicle sorted .
thanks in anticipation of a reply

yes the springs were specially made i don't have the supplier's details to hand but could probably find them in the course of the next week. the driveshaft spacer is only required on the nearside to counter the torque reaction of the engine. it was a simple 20mm est aluminium spacer made by a friend.

It is important to strongly brace the rear trailing arms to prevent them bending upwards with the leaverage on the springs.

    superb
thank you so much and if you can find the spring makers name that would be great.
planning on weling a strip into the inside face of the trailing arms for strenght hope this will do the job
    cracking photo
started it for the first time today 40 weber and tubular exhaust sounds quite a beast think bu the lumpy tickover may well ahve a performance cam as well!!!

    cheers

    thank you
the more i look at it the more i realise i know nothing about skodas or classic trials
expect a regular barrage of questions

did you use 13 inch wheels or can you get away with 14 s as used on the earlier estelles

also looking at how much under body protection is needed did you use a full lenght under shield think i can see something from the front crossmenber i your photo
    regards

We used 13"'s however 14 inch steels would improve the ground clearance with a marginal change in overall gear ratio's.

At the front we had a thick (15mm est) guard with an angled lip at the front extending back beneath the front floor pan to protect the front subframe and suspension, then at the rear was a narrow strip to protect the engine (sump) and mounted to the rear crossmember. that was sufficient,

The front valance is vunerable as you can see in the photo, some people reduce the depth of the panel to minimize this. the rear fog lights (underneath the bumper can be vunerable also) we mounted the reverse light and the rear fogs on the back panel above the bumper to stop this happening.

some people also re route the exhaust to exit through the rear panel with a transverse silencer behind the rear panel to minimize exhaust damage and to aid clearance.
