Squeck is more than likley to be bushes. GF is terrible we call the car the old girl. You could lube them up will que it for a while and re lube. It will go away in the warmer weather.
the noise behind vents is it a squeck to or a rattle ?

the noise is behind the vets ,(its like plastic rubbing togeather and i bang the dash above the vets it goes then comes back in seconds )it is easy to get them vents out and as anyone got any pictures while taking them out please.

My bushes are squeeking but it has a service and mot next month so hope to change them then.

GF is Girl Freind. Hers squecked since we got it in 2004. We call it the mouse I used to hit it, but it came back, This had been repeated 1000's of times and it gets worse. 6 months ago roughly it became a rattle lol. its back to a sqeak now. Applying constant pressure helps

Yes, it does seem to be a fabia thing.

tried briefly to squeeze a solid rubberpiece in between bottom af windscreen and dash. Worked a charm, but removed it because I think tensions might build up in the bottom edge of the screen during cold/warm expansion af both glass and meataframing, and eventually make it crack!

On the good side, the dash-squeeking makes you forget about the road- and windnoise...

It was my suspention bushes whch were gone and noe replaced, the mechanic said come proplems with VW group cars.

a very common with vag cars of the era is the top shock mounts. the bearings tend to become worn or seized which causes squeaking when turning the wheel while stopped. another problem is the spring could have turned a slight bit on the shock cup an may be moving a slight bit causing the squeak
