Default Fitting of new steering angle sensor

    Hi,

Does anyone know how difficult it is too fit a steering angle sensor too a 2000 fabia 1.4, am having the flickering lights and PAS light on the dash and think this is the cause, but am unsure how too go about fitting it, and don't really want too give my dealer £175 too fit a new sensor. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Ps anyone know a good place in the Uk to source the part?

    Thanks

    Default ..kind of a reply...

Hi. Has it been executed? Please share your experiences.

I will try to change mine as soon as weather gets better. Have bought the sparepart, and it turned out to be a common VW/Skoda etc. item.

Seems you have to remove a (sorry bout my 'english') blinder part of the left side lower bumper, the one next to foglight. Thus you will be able to manouvre a hand in and around the horn area(yeah right), when pulling the wires. Havent done it yet, and it will not be easy, I think!

The real challange seems to be actually unscrewing the sensor at the steering-rod! I have located it, and I may have to do som body-flexing there- MY body...

HINT: Tie a new wire(guidewire 1) to the old sensorwire when detached from its mounting(torx), and pull those through first.

Then tie (A)the new sensorwire(appropiate end;o) along with/parralel to (B) a NEW guidewire (2) at the end of the first guidewire (1), thus you have TWO wires pulled through, in case the new sensorwire accidentially comes off when pulled through! Got that....?

    Default Plan 'B'

    Hi again.

Forgot to mention, that someone once told, that it was worth just dismantling the sensor and leave it all together!! I'll surely try this, as it has to come off anyways.

Problem couls be ECU; it may not like the abscense og data, or may have to be re-trogrammed? Just a thought.

    Keep posting

    /Peter
