No throttle after dead battery
My wife left the lights on on her 1.4 Fabia, and her father jump started it for her.
They tell me (its not here) that the throttle pedal now does nothing, the engine idles but the throttle pedal has no effect what so ever.
Any ideas ?
thanks

sounds as if the electronic power unit is playing up, there is no accelerator cable on these cars---the throttle is controlled by a sensor from the pedal direct to engine, if the throttle control unit has been damaged then Im afraid its a trip to garage.
the whole engine is controlled from a small computor (ECU) and it is sometimes possible to reset this by completely disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours, probably best if left off overnight then reconnect and hope for best,, if it does reset then you will need to drive the car for a while as the ECU needs to relearn how you drive the car
hope that makes some sense, best of luck

car seemed to be ok after a full battery charge - quite strange, i was suspecting ecu damage after the jump start but its ok now thanks

Good to see it sorted itself and not an expensive trip to the dealer.
