Very happy with my Fabia so far. Bought it based on reviews and talking to people in the trade. However, being of a certain generation (mid 40s) I can still remember all the old jokes, and I couldnt help feeling a bit self conscious at first. Just wondering if people ever get stick these days, and what the younger generation's view of Skodas these days ?
Probably asking the question in the wrong place ! Cheers

Everyone knows that Skoda's are VW and don't take the piss anymore. When i tell people i have a Skoda Fabia, they all say that's VW now so they are good cars.

Too late now Dude! You've paid your money and the bed is yours to lie upon.
But take heart. I've been a member of the 'badge-unconscious' since 2001 and am about to change my Octavia 4x4 for.......another one! Why change it?
Well we've done 110,000 happy miles together and it's starting to look a bit worn, like the driver. Time to get some parking sensors on the rear of a new one , I think. Other than that? The cam belt will need changing at next service and the brake discs and pads are getting to that point in their long (unchanged) life.
For the rest, we're on the original clutch, exhaust and battery (which is more than can be said for the same age Merc. in the family) and there has NEVER been the need to top up the oil between services. Rust? Very little and the Merc is worse!
So fret not. And feel free to tell the Skoda jokes to all who will listen.
Here are the ones I can remember:
What do you call a Skoda Convertible? A skip.
Why is there a heated rear screen on a Skoda? To warm your hands when pushing it along.
How do you double the value of a Skoda? Fill the fuel tank.
Why are there mud flaps on a Skoda? It helps to keep the wheels under the wheel arches.
Guy goes in to a garage and asks; 'Have you got a fan belt for a Skoda?' Came the reply; 'Sounds like a fair swap to me'.
Love 'em. Got any more please?
    Welcome to club.

Since Starting selling Skodas I have recieved a bit of stick from my mates, having come from mercedes. But in terms of quality and value for money. I am extremely impressed. Alot of people still have an issue with the Skoda name but i have found this is people who havent Driven them and dont really have a brain themselfes and just go on what people from the older generation have told them.

To cut a long story short there are two types of people.
Ones who (think) skodas are rubbish
And ones who (KNOW) they arent.

Startled people at work (Ford) by last year buying a Fab2 diesel. No one took the piss, but I have noticed a few more appearing since I got mine. I am now a happy Skoda devotee

    Default can't stop smiling...

.. when I parked outside my local grosery shop(Copenhagen), and 'accidentally' made a count of 6 'fabia 1 Combi's out of 20'ish... Nice to know i'm not suffering in solitude, LOL

    Cheers

My advice is...look at what police forces are buying. They can't afford to by mediocre cars...except French cars (!) so you can't go wrong.

    Afternoon
I am 44 in a couple of weeks and have also grown up with the Skoda jokes, some still look funny when you mention the name but I am now a complete Skoda convert so don't take any notice. ;-)

I'm preparing a Felicia hatch for Barbados Rally 2012 next year, can't wait to see the guys faces cause they know I am a die hard Toyota/Nissan fan but I do love a project that makes ppls eyebrows go like "IS he serious!!?" has always brought the right type of uniqueness to my workshop and i also drive a Combi wagon as a daily hasn't given me any problems. love them bad so that now makes me a TOYOTA/NISSAN/SKODA fan
