Cool Octavia Running Lights v Side Lights

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help ? I've just bought a Brand new Skoda Octavia VRS (59) and when you drive the car the running lights come on automatically and look very cool. The problem I've got, is when I switch my Side lights on the running lights go dim and the side light bulbs which are situated in the top part of the new Headlight Housing wont light up. I've been back to skoda and they tell me this is what should happen.

Does anyone know how this really should work

I personally think that when you switch the side lights on the running lights should go dim and the side light should come on just like the back one do.

    any help would be appreciated

    Ta

If they dont light up whats the point of having them their would be my question. I'd also ask how this would work when it comes to mot time. pesonally with running lights their is no need for side lights but a need for parking lights Ie drivers side front and back should illuminate when parked. Do your side light bulbs come on when parked

Exactly my point. I was told that the headlight housing was actually made for facelift octy but obviously without the running lights. but now its seems the running lights are now the side lights and the orignal side lights or of no use, but are still there.

PS I've tried them as parking lights but again these are the DRLs but dimmed down

    STRANGE

    Thanks for your comment

So really the switch is for parking lights not side lights and Skoda are using up left over parts. remove the bulds save some weight = better performance lol.

My Octavia VRS side lights never work either, just the LEDs set in the front bumper. Asked my dealer and they told me thats how they work. Would of thought the car could be plugged into a technicians computer to change the setup so that the LEDs are made to dim and the side lights come on when appropriately selected.

Has anybody got any further ideas about this one?

    Thanks

    Andrew
