    Default Remote unlocking problem

My Octavia (1.9 TDi Elegance, 2006) does not unlock using the remote key any more. However, it does lock perfectly fine, and the boot release button (what exactly is the purpose of that anyway) works fine. So, assuming it's not battery failure (correct if you suspect I'm wrong), I think it might have something to do with the section of the owner's manual entitled "Synchonisation[sic] of the remote control" which states "If the vehicle cannot be unlocked by actuating the remote control system then it is possible that the code in the key and the control unit in the vehicle are no longer synchronised."

However, although this sounds like it could be the problem, the steps listed to fix this are as follows:

"Press and button on the remote control."
"Pressing of the button means that the door will unlock with the key within 1 minute"

Is this saying that if I hold any key on the fob for 1 minute, the car will unlock?

Can anyone help? Do you think it might be something else?

    Thanks

did you try what the manual says? sounds like the key and the car is re-synchronising. give it a lash and see what happens
