    Default Orange Engine Light

I have a Jan 06 Octavia 2.0TDI Combi (Estate) and wonder if anyone can advise me on this.

I had it in the garage to have some work done on the screenwash pump, anywayt when it came back the orange engine warning light came on.

Now ther manual tells me it is emission related, but I Googled and found it is the engine management system.

Also when I came to work this morning I noticed it felt unlively and flat before hand it was bright and very nippy to drive you put the foot down.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

I am taking it to the garage on Monday but I wanted some advise first!

    Thanks!

It sounds like your car is running in limp mode, this can be caused by the ECU reading a fault from one of the engine sensors, the problem is which one!

The only real way to determine the problem is reading the fault code from the ECU by using a OBDII fault code reader, all garages use OBDII, just ask them to read and reset the codes, then report them back to you before doing any work.

If your proficient with a spanner you may buy a OBDII cable and software for only a few quid and repair the fault yourself (food for thought)

Thanks for that info Paul. I live in Prague so it's not so straight forward for me cos I can't speak much Czech! I will mention this to the garage I know and use locally.
