Default Skoda Octavia: testing engine electronics

After a service and changing the timing belt on my Octavia 1.9 diesel the "testing engine electronics" warning light has come on, but unlike before does not go off after the engine has started. I do not know if this is in relation to the service/timing belt change, however though I would mention this in case this could be the cause. Does anyone know how to turn this off, or what is at fault?

I have read the manual and it does not state how to turn off/reset this light.

Here's some pictures of the warning light

Do you have access to a fault code reader?, the engine management light is showing a fault in one of the engine sensors and needs to be read fixed then reset,

The only way to read the fault code is through the OBDII socket in the car.

No unfortunately I do not, I know from experience it costs a fair bit for it to be read, and last time they did it they told me my ECU was at fault, and needed a new one, when actually it was a missing fuse!

    What's your location?

Do a search for vag-com on any auction site and you can pick up a cheapish fault code reader for a laptop.

With the vag com do you not need software on your laptop?

Well if your ever in the area I can read them for you.

Vag-com is the software, it's normally the shareware version but it does what you need, and comes with the OBDII cable for laptop,

If you need any more info just let me know.

Cheers for that mate, does the software that comes with the cable need registering ie do you need to buy a registering code/key for it, like say windows or other software, or will it just work when you install the cd/software onto your laptop?

As it appears on this listing that some features only work until you register, but does not mention a registering cost.

Thanks for your help its much appreciated by the way

Yea, that one would do, all of the features you will need are available at shareware level, so there's no need to register for a license,

    Check here for more info

There,s a good bit of info on their site, and once you've got the OBDII cable you can use a whole different load of software's and on other vehicles fitted with OBDII sockets also.

Vag commander is also a good software,

I've used the shareware version of Vag-com for sometime now, and it has always helped me out.

Thanks got it read, it was due to a pipe on the turbo being disconnected and caused low pressure at that time. However the fault was reset, and the light has not come back on. Thanks for your help mate!
