Mayonnaise!
Just a little bit of info for all owners of 2.0 litre 8 valve petrol engined Skoda cars:-
These engines are strong and reliable, easily achieving very high mileages...but there is a common problem. Many owners (including me) have reported mayonnaise type sludge in the oil-filler and breather hoses. This develops as a result of oil mist emulsifying with condensation and is always worse during the winter, especially (although not exclusively) with short runs. During warm, dry weather it hardly occurs at all. So, keep an eye on this and clean the oil-filler and breather hoses at least every service interval. I clean mine two or three times a year to avoid breather hoses becoming blocked. These engines also commonly have quite a high oil consumption, in some cases only 2000-3000 miles per litre, so keep an eye on your dipstick as well. Check regularly and you should have no major problems with this unit. Mine has topped 90,000 miles and still runs and sounds like new. Kind regards, Big Kev.
