    Default engine management light

I purchased my skoda octavia just over a month ago, it is a 1.9tdi on a 2004 plate. On occasions when i put my foot down the engine mamangement light comes on and it goes into limp mode. If i turn the ignition off and start off again it will work fine untill the limp mode cuts in again. Sometimes when i start the car and drive it for the first time in the day the light will go out untill i boot it again. I think this is an electrical /wiring fault but am unsure where to start, may be a wastegate issue??

Has anyone experienced any problems like this?? I really hope the turbo is not on it's way out as it is not noisey or smoking............

When ibrought my skoda it was an old fleet vehicle from local aurthority, which had been run around by a lady driver. Knowing the driver I came to the assumption that the waste gate was sticking, over a couple of weeks I drove it quite hard using the turbo as much as possible and it cleared itself. I did this after posting my original message and am still driving with no problems. Good luck and I hope this works for you. P.s. You will haveto give itsome welly...
Please let me know if this works.

    Wink turbo problems

    Hello
i'm new to the forum having just bought my new skoda octavia 2.0 fsi
with regards to the TDI question and problems described.
Before i got the octavia i had a seat leon 1.9 tdi and that did suffer from similar problems, going into limp mode and turbo dropping out when giving it the beans.
i tried the following check variable vane turbo is free and not sticking in any position, you can do this by pushing down on the lever connected to the vacuum pipes.
    Changer Mass air flow meter.
change boost control solinoid valve N75 Valve.
checks pipes for any splits or leaks

i had to get the inlet manifold cleans out because over time you get quite a bit of carbon build up and eventually the turbo can't breath to gain pressure to boost properly hence the turbo drops out.
If it helps have alook inside the EGR valve pipe and see how much build up you have got since it could be just needing a clean out.
I got charge £380.00 for this to be carried out and it made a big difference to the performance and boost.

see how you get on by checking those things outs it may be slightly different on the skoda but it is part of the same vw family.

    hope this helps
    thanks

    andy.

Big thanks Andy - what you descibe is exactly how my new 05 TDi octavia is performaing..... changed fuel filter, MAF meter & now got Turbo Charger waste gate solenoid valve error through diagnostics. Gonna change N75, as have acquired spare anyway!
Ill post again with how I get on.
    Cheers,
    Marty.

    Thumbs up

    Hi matey
glad to of been of help, never nice when your wheels aren;t working correctly.
Let me know how you get on the N75 valve best getting from Skoda Dealer since there are so many n75's around and all slightly different depending on car make model and BHP, but they all look exactly the same on the outside.
i went to Andrew Page and GSF andgot supplied the wrong one.
Makes a big difference to performance and boost of the turbo.

    Cheers

    Andy
