    Post Gear Knob Removal

    Hi All

I wanted to remove my gearknob today and replace it with a new "sporty" but when it came to it, i couldnt see any screws or anything to release it. Does anyone know how to get it off cause im having quite a bit of trouble.

    Thanks

I managed to remove the gear knob with your advice but now i have another problem. The sleeve which covers the gear shifter is still attached to the original gear knob and i cant see a way to remove this. Im able to twist the original gear knob in both clockwise and anti clock wise directions but apart from that thats it. Im pretty new to the car scene so if u can explain in idiots terms it would be much appreciated. Many thanks

I think the only way to remove it by what your saying would be to carefully cut it of then when you fit the new one which i take it clamps on, by screw driver or alan key. Is to carefully push it up underneath before clamping it in place. Or remove the leather/plastic cover from the console these are oftern on push studs one in each corner and by an after maket replacement. Might be worth waiting for another reply or posting up a picture

what model car and what year is it?

    Thumbs up

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. With a bit of brute force, i found out there was a clip holding the sleeve in place and i have managed to get it off now. Thanks agan
