Default Question about the thermostat in a '98 Felicia

    Hi all,

    I bought a used Felicia a bit over a month ago. It's the facelift-model, 1998 with a 1.3 liter rocket engine.

I'm very happy with the car, not once has it left me in trouble in the mornings before school or work. There has been only one slight problem: it has leaked coolant from around the thermostat. The leakage has been so little, that I've been quite lazy fixing it, but now it should finally be fixed as I changed the washer from between the thermostat and the engine and also the hose leading from the coolant tank to the thermostat.

The previous owner had been clever and tried to use glue to fix the leak. I scraped the glue off today and found a hole from under it, right on the side of the thermostat. Here's a picture to demostrate it better: bayimg - image: 008.JPG - free uncensored image hosting

I'm asking, what on earth is that hole? Should it be connected to something? At least driving normal highway speeds it didn't spray any coolant from that hole but what about when the engine gets even more hot during the coming summer?

    I appreciate the help!

it does not resemble the thermostat casing that i have in my felicia 1.6. anyway, you can buy a new casing for quite a low price. http://www.skodaczesci.pl/photo/702_...9_P8140003.JPG in poland it costs less than 10 euros.
