    Question Windscreen wash

Anybody out there had problems with the windscreen wash pipes becoming detached.

Been minus 5 here in last couple of days and of course washer bottle jets etc froze. Problem is once once thawed out my headlight wash does not work. Had same problem last year. Garage said pipe popped off. They fixed it and fine till now. Seems ridiculous bit of cold weather and problems. Also have problem with rear wash. Leaked all over reverse sensor unit which is located left hand side off boot as you look in. Guess what doesnt work now.

Booked into garage for them to sort out tomorrow.

Has Skoda got a cure for this ? Has anybody got a cure ? Is this a common problem ? Vehicle Is a Diesel Skoda Octavia Elegance

    Thumbs down Windscreen wash problems

Skoda state known problem and it is common VW problem - they won't accept warranty claim - too may!!!. I've started a small claims process under sale of goods act as car is not fit for purpose. A few degrees of frost is not an unknown design input and should not cause properly designed connectors to blow off.

I was offered a free repair as I was interested in buying a Roomster - no thanks and good bye Skoda. My daughter and son's interest in new Octavias has also gone - about £46K+ in potential sales for about an hours work!

Anyway how do I access the rear pipe connector - mine is the estate. The nearside lower floor is saturated but not from the tailgate top wash connector by the look of it as the upper floor carpet is not wet.

strange. We have fabia and during cold spell had exactly the same. I have to admit I havent bee arsed to try and sort it yet as the warning light came on I filled it next day empty. Have fairy washing up liquid bottle in car with water in it and just lean out and squirt should look for connector problem. will fill it up and lay some card board down. see if i can trace it.

    Default washers

i have an octavia, i have'nt had any pipes drop off as yet, i cant seem to get my rear wash to work, the motor is working but no water comes out. i cant locate where the pipe is,maybe it has popped off, i dont seem to have any water where it should'nt be.
The washer hoses that are fitted ine the factory are made of a poly rubber, which in time will stretch and they go brittle in -0 temps, to help preventing these to pop off, use a very small cable tie, when you look at the connecter of which the pipe connects you will see a dip that goes all round the connecter. Once your pipe is on the conncter then fix the cable tie round.(if you are having trouble pushing the pipe onto the connecter then smear a very small amount of washing up liquid onto the connecter). I hope this will help.

Common prob on my old Seat leon trick is to supper glue some but not all of the connections leave the connector that is esiest to get at i'm thinking it would be the one just inside the left panel in boot. Also just avoid using the rear wiper in the really frosty weather at least till the car has thawed out. Done this fix on my Leon last year and no probs since.
It does seem to be a VAG wide prob tho.

I guess mine has popped off at the wiper end. If you operate the washer side of things you can see the water drain out of the bottom of the tailgate after a while.

Havent bothered to try and get the trim off to look. Just dont use it. If I get round to it the old cable tie will used.

I had a similar problem and was told to stop using the Halfords own brand screen wash as it is "too thick" for the system and that was why I was getting leaks. I was advised to buy their own brand (of course) Well, I have stopped using Halfords and am using what I got from the garage and so far so good.

Default Rear Wash Wipe - No Water !

Re the rear window wash not working, it is often dust in the jets which is the problem and not a pipe come adrift.

It seems to be a design problem !

On the Octavia it is possible to remove the cover over the spindle nut, at the base of the wiper blade, and then clean the two jets with a very fine needle.

This cover is only clipped on and is often a tight fit.

I clean mine about once a month !
