    Default Fuel consumption

I have had my second Octavia 2.0 tdi for six months now. Identical to my previous car but achieving substantially less mpg. I was reading that some manufacturers deliberately set consumption lower in the EMS and that this can be altered. Is this true of the Octavia? I ask because I am averaging 10 mpg less than my previous car on long trips.

I have just got my New Octavia, Lauren & Klement 2.0 Tdi. I am averaging about 5mpg less. I hope this is the new engine running in.

    Default Fuel Consumption

I hoped that was the case with mine but I've done 10,000 miles now and the fuel consumption has not improved. Its been suggested that there is a setting in the engine management system that can be changed to improve consumption???

I know of a company who've been complaining for years about their new Passats, the old cars would easily do another 10 - 15 mpg, some now at 3 years old and 120k are the same, they've never improved, apparently a couple of the sales lads were looked badly upon to start because of the extra fuel costs and now they've moved brand as a corporate policy....

I would assume you guy's are suffering a similar issue.

If you chip the car or get a remap (void warrenty and inform insurance) you will see an increase in performance and better mpg. Basically it make the car produce more power meaning it moves the car easier. The engines are holding back to meet immission standars and insurance groupings. That power is die to get out. Decat a skoda and its yeah better performance and fuel consumption. only the vrs if altered will not make significant gains.

    Hope this helps
